Gilakas'la, Da'naxda'xw Membership,

Nugwa'am Sasha Kasalas' Perron. I am 32 years old and a proud Da'naxda'xw First Nations member. I am part of a strong valued military family with deep cultural ties. I am the son of Sandra Glendale, the daughter of the late Sandy Glendale. I am the youngest of four; my siblings are Jamie Gentry, Marc Jr. Perron, and Melissa Perron. I carry both sides of my family's values with me in everything I do and am proud of my French Canadian heritage.

I grew up in Victoria, running around with my mom going to cultural events all over the city. I was an active kid who played sports, where eventually my passion for hockey took me to Missouri State University. There, I played for the Ice Bears and graduated with a Computer Information Systems degree. The biggest thing I took from my degree is understanding the business or organization as a whole and learning how to problem-solve in teams to overcome challenges, bottlenecks, and improve processes.

I've always felt a deep connection to my Grandpa Sandy Glendale. I see him in passing and have felt him with me in my travels. In October 2025, at the late James Glendale (Moose) memorial potlatch, I was gifted and inherited my grandpa's Mountain Goat dance. Being initiated as a Goat dancer was a powerful moment for me and my family, and it is my prerogative to continue to share and pass on culture and identity to my kin.

I wanted to introduce myself here before the July 11th election, and share with the membership that I am on the ballot, and wish to serve our people on council.

I’ve always believed that if you say you are going to do something, you put your head down and give it 100%. I bring my passion and heart to everything I do, I listen to my gut, and I have brought that same hardworking mindset to my education, athletics, career, and now to nation building. The same drive that thrust me across the Ironman finish line is the same drive I will bring forward in council.

Outside of athletics and work, I’ve used running and endurance sport as a way to advocate, raise awareness/funds, and bring people together to celebrate us, our ancestors, culture, identity, and resilience. Over the years, I’ve raised over $30,000 for various local organizations through these initiatives. I began in 2021, where I ran 215 km, organized a march and memorial in front of the legislature where the public attended, and representatives from all three nations on the island shared, mourned, and came together for the event. I will always remember the sea of orange marching from Fisherman's Wharf towards the legislature. More recently, in 2023, when Port Alberni confirmed 67 unmarked graves, I did a 67 km run in honour of my mother and family who attended.

Throughout my career serving First Nations across the public and private sectors, I have focused on turning high-level governance into practical, community-led results. In my current role at BC Hydro, I am leading an energy innovation initiative that I am designing to move First Nations from being energy consumers to strategic energy managers. I have actively put big provincial and international commitments like UNDRIP and CleanBC 2030 into action. My background across IT, museum & archives, consultation platforms gives me a deep understanding of data sovereignty, resource management, and referral tracking. I am a personable go-getter who knows how to navigate complex internal structures, high-stakes emotions/pressures, translate technical requirements, and making sure projects actually deliver sustainable solutions for our people.

I am grateful to all my teachers; I didn't build this experience alone. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to learn from strong mentors, cultural leaders, and a trusted network of professionals along the way. If you vote for me, you don't just get my individual skill set, you bring that entire circle of support, knowledge, and resources to our Council table to help move our Nation forward.

I am running for Council because I value transparency, honest communication, and making sure our internal laws, like our Governance Code, are fully respected and followed. If elected, my 3-year term will not be driven by a personal agenda, but by the direction of what you, the membership, decide is the highest priority. Together with the newly formed Council, I will focus on implementing the strategic structures required to make our collective vision a reality.

Over the next three years, you can look forward to a leadership style that brings regular updates, transparency, open communication, and a strict adherence to our protocols and processes. I will use my background in structural accountability to ensure that our governance structures protect our rights and manage our resources exactly the way our people direct us to. I will uphold my oath to the highest degree and lead with accountability, hard work, and integrity.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and what I bring to the table.
I look forward to serving you to the best of my abilities.

Gilakas'la. Ñamwayut.
